Etsy Tuesdays: Krystal Kerr

Thunder and lightening, rain, tornados in Oregon...not the type of weather I'm used to in December!  It certainly makes life an adventure.  At the Fox Island Holiday Bazaar, all the vendors parked in a muddy field and several got stuck and had to be towed.  I foolishly wore a dress and didn't bring boots, so I was slogging through mud (up to my ankles), trying to find a route solid enough to drive my truck out of the field so I could go home.  Happily, I found a way, and drove it without any problem.  But I'm afraid all I'm going to get for Christmas is rain.  I'd much rather it snowed!

Anywho, today's Etsy artist is Krystal Kerr of DEVIANTdecor.  I'm fascinated by the mix of the ornate and the extraordinary that I see in her shop, but I'll let her tell you about it! (Besides Etsy, you can find DEVIANTdecor on Twitter, Facebook, on an RSS feed and via newsletter!)

"DEVIANTdecor specializes in Victorian Framed Minatures, Objects and Oddities.  Using primarily vintage brass frames, reclaimed fabric and found objects I create unique art that will add a touch of whimsy your home.  I am inspired by the obscure, whimsical and sometimes dark and bizarre. I am intrigued by the cycles of nature and the remnants it leaves behind.

My inspirations for DEVIANTdecor came from my work as a Fine Art Photographer where I focused my energy photographing objects that I have encountered or collected throughout my life.
As my collections of objects grew, I realized they where just sitting around in boxes after I was finished photographing them or while they were waiting for their own turn in the spotlight. I felt like it was a waste to have such fascinating objects packed away in boxes so I started brainstorming on ways to display the small unique items that I adored, and DEVIANTdecor was born.  I was so pleased with the result of combining my love for Victorian frames with dimensional art and found objects that I knew I had to share this with the public.  I am now constantly on the search for unique and interesting items to frame up and  share with the world!"
