Etsy Tuesdays: Elisa Peterson

Well, here we are, rapidly approaching Christmas.  I love the waiting, the anticipation and the reflection that comes in the season before a holiday.  As a Christian, Christmas (and Easter too!) are especially close to my heart.  Add to that the crafts and the possibility of snow and it equals pure joy.  I hope you're all savoring the season and not being stressed out by the things that need to get done!

This Saturday is my second (and last) craft show of the season.  If you're in the Kitsap/Tacoma area, come out to Fox Island for the Holiday Craft Bazaar.  It's going to be fantastic.  I'm excited (and aprehensive) as is normal...and, I'm trying not to procrastinate too much.

Today's Etsy artist is Elisa Peterson.  She's the face behind Orange Door Cottage Designs.  She makes beautiful and fun home decor, but I'll let her tell you about it...

"My name is Elisa Peterson.
I collect vintage décor: the odd body part from a porcelain doll, the rusty nail head, the broken and discarded molding from an old picture frame. If you’re a crafter, you’ll understand.

I gather these old things and sometimes place them in piles that no one but me understands; the piles grow or are blended, until the day when I am seized with some strange notion of what to do next. Normal people say “Whaaat?”, but, again, I know that you crafters understand perfectly.

Creativity and productivity (not always in equal measure) kept me at the grindstone for over 25 years, first as a production potter and then as an interior designer. They were good years, but hard-working ones.

Now I am retired from the pressure of earning a living at my craft. I wander about where old things are, dithering, dreaming, picking up any old strange thing that interests me, take them home to my studio and wait for the magic to happen.
My satisfaction is in the freedom of each new creation.

With OOAK upcycled art, there are no rules. My only hope can be that there is someone out there who gets my vision, my humor, or my style, and likes it enough to get out their credit card.

I have organized a Meetup group of crafters and have a studio that offers space, workshops, and studio time at affordable prices to crafters.

Learning the art of Etsy keeps me busy. I know that there is much to learn when marketing on the internet, and I am a willing learner."
