Etsy Tuesdays: Beth Goss

"Like many artists, I have a "day" job to support myself and my craft. I teach parent education classes at my community college, as well as at a large medical center downtown. Although I really love my job (and not many can say that) I found that I needed to use a different part of my brain. I began taking jewelry classes in the early 90s before I married and started a family. I quickly found that metalsmithing would need to take a back seat while I got my career on track and used most of my mental, and physical, energy raising my children.

After a long stint of parenting, I started to notice that I didn't need to be quite as hands-on and I pulled out the old supplies and equipment. In 2007 Wire Tree was born. I've been selling on Etsy ever since, as well as in several shops and galleries around the country. I love working with metal to create a variety of shapes and textures for my pieces. The silver usually has a botanical theme, and the copper is almost always treated to create warm reds and oranges. My bookmarks, keyrings, and garden markers are stamped with words and phrases that speak to me.

When I'm not working, I'm spending time with my two children, my husband, friends, and very loud cats in the beautiful city of Seattle, WA."
