Etsy Tuesdays: Sue of Sentiment Redesigned

Brrrr.  It was cold this weekend, although I know we've got nothing, really, to complain about.  Snow is such a rare occurance here in the Puget Sound, I'm always a little shocked when I do see it!  I hope you're all staying warm!

Today's featured artist is Sue of Sentiment Redesigned.  She makes pendants and key chains that feature quotes and are rich in meaning and beauty.

"Sentiment Redesigned is the result of my fascination with beautifully crafted "thought", and the joy that comes from crafting with metal. I was a French language and literature major while in college, but always knew that someday I would express myself more creatively, and always knew that I could work with metal. I opened a retail store in a remote part of Michigan, in the early 90's, and found that my favorite part of the experience would be designing and assembling the displays in the window or on the tables on the selling floor. I would literally lose all track of time, much to the chagrin of my employees!
I now live in Seattle, and work in my home-studio that overlooks beautiful Lake Union. I love the cultural diversity found here, and am awed by the staggering beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It is truly magnificent, and I am grateful everyday...

A twig, a leaf, the texture found on a sea shell retrieved from the shores of Puget Sound, will often find its way into one of my pendant designs. By combining these elements with an intimate "sentiment" or philosophy, the convergence results in a piece of jewelry that evokes deep emotion and personal meaning for each individual wearer. Second only to the joy of creating these limited editions, is the happiness that I feel when someone shares the significance that each "sentiment" holds for them.

In 2011, I hope to finally launch my new line of design templates that can be used by polymer or metal clay artists. Stay tuned, as these will make their debut on my Etsy site in the very near future!

A portion of each of my sales is donated to YOUTHCARE in Seattle. YouthCare runs the only 24/7 emergency shelter for youth under 18 in Seattle. Over 1,000 homeless youth are on the streets each night with no safe shelter or place to stay. YouthCare attempts to offer some relief to this tragic situation in the city of Seattle."
