I've heard it so many times before, but I now recognize it to be true: Christmas is much more fun with kids. And they're not even mine. And I'm just making them presents! But the anticipation of their joy is so much better than the anticipation of my own joy. So here's the run down on what I've made.
For P, I made a fairy house. The theory is that the fairies back at my pond heard about the fairies at P's beach, and decided to build them a house, which P has to finish decorating and find furniture.
For R, I made a journal, complete with a pocket to hold pencils and crayons. No more "I dropped my crayon/pencil/pen," from the back seat while we're driving. She's really been into green lately, so I hope that she likes it. I also used some of the ribbon from her great-grandma's collection, which I had used previously on a baby sweater that I made for her.
For Q, penguins! We've been playing a game for the past week that goes something like this: "If you had to chose between Starwars, penguins, pirates, monkeys, dinosaurs and Snoopy, which would you pick?" Surprisingly, penguins won out more consistently than any other contender. So he gets a penguin apron and a couple of penguins on wool, which could be framed or made into pillows, or something.
What about you guys? Did you make anything fun for Christmas, or find something amazing that someone else made?I probably won't be writing again until after Christmas, so I wish you all a merry Christmas and very happy new year!
