The beginning of summer

It has been rather dreary here in Washington.  We've had the occasional sun for part of the day, but nothing major. Perhaps that's why I did nothing but sit and read for the first week of summer.  There were glorious plans to get cracking on bookbinding and participate in farmer's markets by the first Saturday of July. Sadly, (but not too sadly) those plans have been pushed back a bit. I think that I've finally got a plan!

My ingenious plan is this- make as many books as possible before the first of July, and hope for the best.  So far, I've cut and folded over 1,000 pieces of paper, and I've got another 1,000 still to go.  After everything is cut and folded, bookboard will have to be cut, bookcloth made and books glued and sewn together.  It's actually rather frightening, throwing myself so deeply into this.  What if no one buys anything?  Worse yet, what if I completely screw up each and every book that I try to make?  Yikes.  I just looked at the date.  One day to go. Really yikes.

But I will remain hopeful that in a few day's time, my stock of books will have increased from this:

to include a total of 50 journals, notebooks, albums and watercolor sketchbooks.  Here's hoping!
