The problem with being a dreamer is that your dreams frequently go unfulfilled. Such was the case with my plans from last week. I discovered that I have company coming sometime around Thanksgiving, and all that yarn that's piled up on a bed in a spare room has to be moved. So being the logical, well thought out person that I am, I decided it all needed to be organized. Not only would it be organized, it would be organized well, darn it!
I am now the proud owner of six bags full of yarn, sorted by weight. All the yarn is neatly skeined, except for the lace-weight cashmere that is too much of a hassle. That stayed in the clunky center-pull balls. Now all that's left to tackle is the pile of 10+ sweaters waiting to be deconstructed. Yikes. It may be Christmas by the time that room gets cleaned.
As if trying to clean and organize a room wasn't enough, my friend's mom called yesterday and said that their church had a blanket drive, and that someone had donated a bunch of yarn, did I want to make a blanket? I said yes, and ended up with this:
They're rather ugly colors and they're acrylic, which doesn't help anything. But I've decided to crochet (because it's quickest) and to make a fibonacci afgan (because it's interesting). It will look something like the diagram below.
But! In spite of all that, I did get one pair of slippers finished...for myself. I had to make sure the pattern was correct, didn't I? They are fairly quick and easy to make-one pair a day or so. The completed pair is a bit roomy and there's ridges on the bottom from where the squares are joined together, but I like them a lot. Here's to a good week's work!
